A Farmer's Dilemma

Old MacDonald had a farm and on that farm there were 88 animals: ducks, turkeys, cows and pigs. There were a total of 226 legs for all of these animals.

Old MacDonald is doing inventory and knows that 37 of the animals were neither turkeys nor pigs and the number of pigs totals 15. How many ducks, turkeys and cows does Old MacDonald have?

Indicate your calculations. Then show your answer to your math teacher and submit it to the office for a chance to win a pizza lunch.

Penny Wars Part 2

Imagine that LT students have stepped up to the challenge and raised 532 368 pennies in Penny Wars.
The library crew and Ms. Purcell have to roll all those pennies!

a) How much money has the Library raised? $5323.68
b) How many complete rolls of pennies will 532 368 pennies make? 532 368÷50=10 647 complete rolls
c) If it takes one student 40 seconds to roll one roll of pennies, how many minutes will that be to roll all the pennies? 10 647rolls X 40sec=425 880 seconds or 7098 minutes
d) If 6 students are rolling the pennies and each one takes 40 seconds, how many minutes will it take for them to roll all the pennies raised? 7098 minutes÷6 students=1183 minutes
